![]() ![]() My astron tries to sync twice a day, the citizen syncs one a week but both can be forced to sync whenever you like.Ĭasio seem to have moved out of the gps watch game (outside of tracking watches) but my old gravitymaster has gps, radio and Bluetooth time sync. Casio, citizen and seiko.Ĭitizen and seiko both are gps only and don’t support radio sync. I’m not aware of any watches that tell you the last time the sync happened, but really there’s only three brands of gps watch that I’m aware of. I have three gps watches so I’ll give you my view. It's nice to know that I'm not risking a fine by being 15 seconds too early or late.īeyond that though, if I'm going to spend money on a watch that can sync to an atomic clock, it feels good to know that I can see exactly when it last successfully synced rather than just hoping it's syncing successfully.ītw you said "mine", but you didn't mention what watch you have. Another example is that there are restricted parking spaces or road lanes which are monitored by CCTV, and I need to know exactly when I can start using them if I'm there during a switchover period. One simple example is that if I mess around with trading some stocks, in order to be able to exit a trade and not risk overnight movements against me, I need to know exactly how many seconds I have left before the market closes. The reason for accuracy is that there are certain things in my life that require being accurate to the second. If the same is true for the Apple Watch, then my Apple watch would have had the wrong time too! I then found out that at least on iPads, the NTP server is hardcoded to and it cannot be changed. As soon as I tried the NTP server instead, my Mac had the correct time. Then it dawned on me that it was actually my computer that had the wrong time, not my Garmin. Just now, I found out how to issue a command line forced NTP sync ("sudo sntp -sS "), and every time it came back with the error "sntp: Exchange failed: Timeout". Therefore I was looking for a watch that would actually tell me when it had trouble syncing the time. Since the Garmin watch has been kept indoors and could not have synced via GPS signal, I assumed that was the problem and it was drifting away from the correct time. What's funny is that the reason I started this post was that I have my Mac configured to automatically sync from, and I noticed my Garmin watch time was off by 2.5 seconds compared to my Mac. /r/WatchExchange for buying, selling, trading watchesīanner photo courtesy of /u/northscylla Please take a look at our community rules and FAQ before contributing!./r/WatchHorology our sister subreddit for horology, watch appreciation, history, technical discussion and related topics.Simple Questions and Recommendations ThreadĬome hang out in the Official /r/Watches Discord! ![]() Our previous Buying Guide thread: Dive Watches Check them outĪpril 2019 State of the Sub Discussion and SummaryĢ1-26 Mar 19 Baselworld 2019 Discussion MegathreadĤ Dec 18 - AMA with Arial Adams & Matt Smith-Johnson for a new LE watch collaboration with Laco.
